I recently designed a full itinerary for a private Healdsburg day for a group of four friends — let’s call them Emma, Claire, Sophia, and Mia — who were planning to celebrate the retirement of one of them and wanted a day to bond, laugh, and create lasting memories. One of the women does not drink alcohol, but they all wanted a shared experience.
While the trip didn’t happen due to unforeseen circumstances, the planned itinerary highlights exactly what makes a CKcurated experience unique: insider access, thoughtful planning, and attention to every detail.

The Vision
Unlike other packaged Napa/Sonoma wine “tours,” this wasn’t going to be a “walk-in, pour-and-go” day. The goal was to create a journey where guests could meet winemakers, learn about the vineyards, enjoy curated food pairings, and include experiences that were engaging for non-drinkers too. The day was designed to feel small, intimate, personal, seamless, and unforgettable — a day for connection and celebration.
This is one of the main reasons why these four ladies chose to have a CKcurated California Wine Excursion.

The Itinerary
9:45 AM — 🚗 Pickup at the AirBnB
The day would have begun with a comfortable pickup, stocked with bottled water and ready to go.
10:00 AM — 🌿 Morning Olive Oil Tasting
The first stop would have been a walk-in tasting at a nearby olive oil producer. Guests would have sampled small-batch, estate-crafted oils and learned about the farm’s craft and process. A gentle, flavorful start — perfect for non-drinkers or anyone easing into the day.
11:00 AM — 🍇 Wine Tasting at a Boutique Dry Creek Winery
At the first winery, the group would have met Nick and enjoyed a relaxed, insider tasting of Zinfandel, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Fiano. Nestled in the heart of Dry Creek Valley, the vineyard itself is as captivating as the wines. CKcurated’s portfolio of partner wineries allows us to select the perfect estate to match any taste or style. In this case, I selected this estate and the tasting lineup specifically to match the group’s request to focus on Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from cooler pockets of Sonoma.
12:45 PM — 🥪 Gourmet Lunch Pickup
Guests would have picked up made-to-order sandwiches and salads from a local Healdsburg deli, a beloved staple since 1881. The casual lunch was designed to be enjoyed at the next stop, keeping the day seamless and relaxed.
1:15 PM — 🍇 Wine Tasting at a Second Boutique Winery
At the second vineyard, the group would have enjoyed lunch amid 90-year-old Zinfandel vines while tasting Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and the estate’s signature old-vine Zins. Meeting Andrew, a second-generation winemaker, they would have heard stories about the vineyard, winemaking process, and terroir — creating a rich, authentic experience that would have formed the heart of the day. We had planned barrel tastings and a demonstration in the winery lab, including a discussion on how recent wildfires affected the vines and the wine — arranged at the specific request of one of the guests.
Debrief sessions are always a welcome part of CKcurated excursions, giving guests the opportunity to share stories, impressions, and memories to take home.

Even though the excursion didn’t take place, designing it reinforced several CKcurated principles:
